There are literally thousands of different locks and keys so you can be assured that your Endeavour Locksmith can recommend one to meet your requirement.
However there are two main groups of keying systems which provide quite different levels of security and key control:
- Restricted master key systems which provide the best level of security with the ability to provide tiered access for individuals and robust key control. Keys can only be cut by the Master Locksmith who provided your system and then only with the authorization of a registered signatory. They cannot be cut by Mr Minit and the like;
- Standard key systems which demand a high level of personal control of keys because they can be cut by anyone with a basic key cutting system These are the most common systems used in domestic installations and provide a adequate level of security if a widely recognized brand of lock (e.g. Lockwood) is used.
Regardless of the system you use, it is important to remember that your Endeavour locksmith can ‘re-key’ your locks, rather than replace them if the keys are compromised or if you want to deny access to people who hold your current keys.
Apart from sticking with a good brand of lock, it is important to ensure that your locksmith or installer is a member of the Master Locksmiths Association of Australia (MLAA) and the business and all the locksmiths they employ are registered under the Victorian Private Security Act, or similar legislation in your State. That way you will know that your security details are well protected.
